A bar or restaurant in the basement of a historic building. From German Rathaus (town hall) + Keller (cellar). Ours sits beneath a building founded in 1885.
Is the Rathskeller a speakeasy?
Speakeasy-inspired and fully open to the public. No password required — but descending into a subterranean cocktail lounge delivers exactly that clandestine energy.
What cocktails do you serve?
Handcrafted cocktails honouring Julian Anderson's 60-year legacy (1893–1953). Classics, seasonal creations, Montana craft spirits, wine, and beer.

Helena's weekly poker night — every Friday, 8PM–2AM. No Limit Texas Hold'Em, $20 buy-in. Reserve your seat in advance; tables fill fast.
Does the Rathskeller take reservations?
Walk-ins are welcome. For larger groups or special occasions, contact us in advance to secure your table or discuss private event options.
Is it good for private events?
Yes. The intimate underground setting makes it one of Helena's most distinctive private event venues. We accommodate private dining, cocktail receptions, and event buyouts.
What is the Montana Club?
