The Garden Room represents the culmination of a dream to create Montana’s most refined tea experience
within one of the state’s most historically significant buildings. Meticulously restored to honor its
early 1900s heritage, our intimate space combines the grandeur of the Gilded Age with the warmth of
Montana hospitality.
Founded in 1885, the Montana Club stands as Montana’s oldest social club, a testament to the vision and
ambition of territorial leaders who shaped our great state. When fire destroyed the original clubhouse
in 1903, members immediately commissioned renowned architect Cass Gilbert – designer of the U.S. Supreme
Court building – to create a structure worthy of Montana’s bright future.
The current building, completed in 1905, showcases stunning Beaux-Arts architecture that has welcomed
governors, senators, copper kings, and countless other luminaries who contributed to Montana’s rich
tapestry. The building features original crown molding, restored period chandeliers, and architectural
details that transport guests to an era of unparalleled elegance.
To deliver exceptional service while celebrating Montana’s heritage, creating unforgettable experiences
that honor the past while embracing the present. Every cup of tea served, every story shared, and every
moment curated reflects our commitment to preserving the traditions that make Montana special.
To establish The Garden Room as Montana’s premier destination for refined experiences, where locals and
visitors alike can connect with our state’s remarkable history while enjoying the finest in hospitality
and cuisine.
